Hawkgirl / Icarus

Employing pixelation techniques in Photoshop, this artwork emphasizes the calculated nature of Hawkgirl’s flight, with pixel blocks representing the structured wings crafted with care. Hawkgirl’s wings are central, conveying both intricacy + delicacy, with fallen pixelated feathers from Hawkgirl evoking the consequences of flying too close to the sun, adding a surreal touch. These expressive details create a visually rich narrative that merges Hawkgirl’s superhero identity with the timeless themes of ambition, risk + consequences from the story of Icarus. One of my favorite poems, Musée des Beaux Arts by W.H. Auden inspired this piece.
